Top 25 worship songs in America

I thought some of you might be interested in knowing what the top 25 played worship songs in churches around America are. This list came from the latest results from CCLI which is the main Christian music copyright/licensing company for non-profit organizations around the world. They conduct two surveys per year, one in February and one in August. I think that Chris Tomlin is making a killing on his songs. He has written 4 out the 25 most played worship songs not to mention his number one hit "How great is our God." This list is the latest data and is ranked from the most played to the least:

1 How Great Is Our God (Tomlin, Chris \ Reeves, Jesse \ Cash, Ed)

2 Here I Am To Worship (Hughes, Tim)

3 Blessed Be Your Name (Redman, Beth \ Redman, Matt)

4 Open The Eyes Of My Heart (Baloche, Paul)

5 Shout To The Lord (Zschech, Darlene)

6 Lord I Lift Your Name On High (Founds, Rick)

7 Come Now Is The Time To Worship (Doerksen, Brian)

8 You Are My King (Foote, Billy)

9 Forever (Tomlin, Chris)

10 Holy Is The Lord (Tomlin, Chris \ Giglio, Louie)

11 God Of Wonders (Byrd, Marc \ Hindalong, Steve)

12 Breathe (Barnett, Marie)

13 We Fall Down (Tomlin, Chris)

14 You Are My All In All (Jernigan, Dennis)

15 You're Worthy Of My Praise (Ruis, David)

16 The Heart Of Worship (Redman, Matt)

17 Trading My Sorrows (Evans, Darrell)

18 Above All (LeBlanc, Lenny \ Baloche, Paul)

19 Beautiful One (Hughes, Tim)

20 How Great Thou Art (Hine, Stuart \ Wesley Keene)

21 Better Is One Day (Redman, Matt)

22 Draw Me Close (Carpenter, Kelly)

23 Lord Reign In Me (Brown, Brenton)

24 The Wonderful Cross (Reeves, Jesse \ Tomlin, Chris \ Watts, Isaac)

25 Indescribable (Story, Laura)

I think it's just interesting to see what other churches around the country are playing for worship, but I'm biased...I think the songs that we do are the best!!! If you want to see what the top worship songs are in other parts of the world click on http://www.ccli.com/WorshipResources/Top25.cfm. Peace out.

David, you and the band do an AWESOME job!!! Is there a way we can bring some of these songs back into our worship, like #'s:
2,7,11,24. Just a thought!!!

Good info. Although I know we do the songs that were requested, and they are fine, I'm all for new songs. My new favorite artist is Aaron Shust. I do love Chris Tomlin and think his songs are great, but my all time fav. would have to be Jeremy Camp.

I totally welcome your input and suggestions. New songs are nice, and it is also nice when you throw in those "oldies but goodies." Heidi requested to bring back

Here I Am To Worship
Come Now Is The Time To Worship
God Of Wonders
The Wonderful Cross

For those of you who actually read blogs...I would be interested to know what others of you think as far as worship is concerned and song selection. Are you pleased with the song selection? Do you feel that we are acheiving our intended purpose of playing music that would appeal to the unchurched as well as facilitating a meaningful experience with God through worship?

How about I'll Fly Away? Just kidding. I enjoy the old hymns too (my favorite is How Great Thou Art), but I really love the United songs that we do. I think the words are awesome and the music style is more fitting for those that we're trying to reach.

i think the ccli list suffers from the comparatively slow rate that many churches adopt new songs. without doing any research, i'd guess the average age of songs on their list is 3 to 5 years. some are quite a bit older, and i don't see any that are less than 2 years.

i don't think there's anything "wrong" with that, just that it's skewed. if picked mainly from their list you'd miss a lot of the current music people are hearing on christian radio, for example.
